Boardwalk Riding Notes
Ocean City and Atlantic City both have boardwalks where bikes are only legal to ride at certain dates and times. If you are on the beach sections of the route during times when the boardwalk is open for bicycles, riding on the boardwalks is recommended rather than following the official route – it’s much more scenic and enjoyable!
The official Jersey Devil Hunt route does not follow the boardwalks except to reach the official end point of JFK Plaza; riders should dismount and walk their bikes if reaching the end point during hours when bikes are not allowed.
Both boardwalks are generally open to bikes in the off-season, and open during restricted hours (5 or 6 am until noon) during the summer season. Please see the links below for details.

- Mile 81.6: Routed around Batsto Village on paved roads due to a “no bikes” sign I somehow missed previously
- 129.2: Used a different part of the East Creek Trail and related roads in order to get pretty views of East Creek Pond
Change Notes for Version 1.1
- Mile 30.9: Switched to using singletrack after Mt. Misery, rather than dirt road
- 75.3: Due to a newly added “no bikes” sign, switched to sand road in somewhat worse condition between Washington and Mount
- 91.1: Route now follows lakeside trail along Makepeace Lake, rather than using Elwood Road
- 99.1: Route now follows main street through Mays Landing (easier access to supply stops) rather than a side street
- 106.0: Switched to a more direct route to Cumberland Ave
- 118.3: Briefly switched to a slightly quiet/prettier road north of Corbin City
- 147.5: Switched to using the promenade in Sea Isle City while available, instead of city streets
